Position: Full-Time Principal Faculty: Director of Clinical Education Location: St. Paul, MN Job Id: 123PA # of Openings: 1 CSP PA Program - 1.0 FTE Principal Faculty- Director of Clinical Education Position Overview: The Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies at Concordia University - St. Paul (CSP) offers a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty appointment for the director of clinical education (DCE). Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The DCE will report directly to the PA Program Director upon appointment. The CSP PA Program is currently in the process of seeking Provisional Accreditation from the ARC-PA. Provisional Accreditation is a temporary status of accreditation granted for a limited, defined period of time to a new program that has demonstrated its preparedness to initiate a program in accordance with the Standards. This position will be central to the initial development of the CSP PA Program during the ARC-PA Provisional Accreditation process. The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for developing and maintaining the clinical curriculum for the PA Program. This includes collaborating with the Program Director, other program faculty members, and the program manager in shared responsibilities relevant to all aspects of student clinical experiences. The Director will conduct analyses of the clinical curriculum's efficiency and design, and implement data-based course modifications as appropriate. They will also develop and implement data-based learning and assessment tools for all clinical year courses, coordinate clinical phase end-of-rotation learning experiences and the associated academic schedule, support the teaching and the development of other principal and instructional faculty, oversee the clinical curriculum to ensure the effectiveness of education towards meeting both ARC-PA accreditation standards and the PA Program's mission, vision, and goals, while participating in general faculty activities such as research, service, teaching and student mentoring. Essential Duties: Oversight of the clinical phase curriculum Maintain clinical course objectives that map to program competencies/student learning outcomes for the clinical training portion of the curriculum, consistent with professional practice, the PA Program, and ARC-PA standards Maintain and direct communication with established clinical preceptors, clinical sites, and health systems Develop and maintain clinical phase assessment tools and facilitate data-driven curricular change decisions as needed Maintain and disseminate the academic calendar, including ensuring compliance with initiatives affecting the PA Program calendar or academic schedule Foster communication and collaboration among the PA faculty and staff through meetings and/or consultation Coordinate all evaluation processes and ensure feedback and action plans are communicated promptly Address student performance deficiencies and develop, implement, and monitor remediation plans in an effective and timely manner Ensure students are oriented to and maintain all policies and procedures related to the PA Program, the College of Health and Science, and CSP University Maintain records regarding the attainment of clinical competencies and evaluations associated with clinical performance Recruit and orient instructional faculty and engage in ongoing faculty assessment and mentoring to ensure adherence to program quality standards Secondary Duties: Provide additional leadership in maintaining ARC-PA accreditation standards and compliance with regulatory requirements Participate in the program's admissions committee, including candidate review, interview, and selection Mentor and advise students, fostering a supportive learning environment Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Program Director, Program Medical Direc or, Program Director, or Dean Education & Experience: The successful candidate must be a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a master's degree in a field related to the health sciences, education, or management. Applicants must have, or be eligible for, licensure as a PA in Minnesota. Preferred applications will have at least one year of clinical experience as a clinically-practicing PA-C. Experience is strongly preferred, as is at least three years of experience in physician assistant education or at least three years of full-time higher education. Finally, applicants who have demonstrated abilities in teaching, research, scholarship, student advisement, committee service, management, and administration are preferred.
