This position offers a dynamic and impactful role within the Department of Public Safety, providing a unique opportunity to develop and influence public engagement programming. This role is great for someone passionate about working in the space where implementation of programs meets communities. This position exists to lead, design, and coordinate outreach activities of Community Affairs projects and initiatives and provide reporting to agency senior leadership and division directors.
This role will require significant time spent outside of the office, working in the community, including occasional evenings and weekends. Must be able to work occasional weekend, evening and/or holiday hours to represent DPS at community engagement events and celebrations.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience conducting partner engagement strategies and/or civic engagement programs.
International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Knowledge and experience in planning, policy development and implementation.
Strong organizational and project management skills, a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to form and sustain collaborative and effective relationships with a wide variety of diverse individuals, community groups, and organizations.
Demonstrated ability to lead strategically and share a clear vision using data analysis to inform decision-making.
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
*Bachelors degree as determined by the agency may substitute for one year of experience; A Master’s degree as determined by the agency may substitute for 18 months of experience
Preferred Qualifications
4 years of professional level employment leading public engagement or community engagement.
2 years project management or project coordination experience.
Bi/multi-lingual candidates.
Current/previous State employment experience.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
