Overview: We are looking for an organized, improvement oriented accounts payable representative to provide task driven invoice and reporting action within our accounts payable department. This roles responsibilities include reviewing and reconciling invoices in a timely manner, assisting the Finance department in preparing and reviewing reporting, and making timely payments to vendors and other third parties. Additionally, may perform operations, such as analytical and technical support to accounting and treasury-related activities. To succeed as an accounts payable representative, you should be detail-oriented, process-focused, and a proactive problem solver. A desire for building lasting relationships with others within and outside of the business, as well as having great communication skills and being knowledgeable, analytical, and decisive will help you succeed in this role. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Support the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems by: Reviewing invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry, including processing due invoices for payments Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation Partner with Procurement on vendor education and outreach when necessary Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances Maintaining accurate historical records in compliance with document retention requirements Strengthen and grow relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payments and response to inquiries Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting Comply with national and local financial and tax regulations Records, verifies and reports on transactions. Reconciles bank and general ledger accounts, statements and reports. Prepares and maintains state unclaimed property records. Qualifications: A successful Accounts Payable Representative will have a mix of organizational and analytical skills. Proficiency with SAP, Ariba, Excel and other accounting tools High school diploma or equivalent experience (at least 3 years experience in accounting) Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping Able to work out numbers, generate reports and find discrepancies as well as cost-saving opportunities Basic data entry skills and strong attention to detail Comfortable with math and calculations Good listening and communication skills Attention to regulatory and process requirements to follow the correct procedures Superb time management skills and detail orientation Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and partner information Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent, including CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certifications Strong mathematical skills Experience in accounts payable (or accounts receivable) Experience with accounting software and online platforms such as SAP and Ariba Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. If you're in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.
