POSITION: MIXER TRUCK DRIVER

REPORTS TO: PLANT OPERATIONS/DISPATCH

SUMMARY

The responsibility of this position is to assure the safe and timely delivery of concrete to customers. The timely return to the batch plant for future loads is critical. Proper maintenance and care of the ready mix concrete trucks, completion of all paperwork, assisting with plant work, and maintaining good public relations with customers is essential.

DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors; complete work as assigned by Plant Operations/Dispatch.

Must have a valid Idaho issued Class B CDL and current medical card; must pass and participate in USDOT drug/alcohol screening.

Must maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and company policy.

Must adhere to safety requirements & procedures, including the wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.

Must take responsibility for customer relationships, appropriately represent St. Maries Concrete & Materials on the job site and while transporting product on public streets and highways. Be a courteous driver.

Must be at work on time ready to start your shift with proper safety attire and equipment.

Moderately strenuous work. Must be able to climb in and out of the truck many times a day.

Driver must climb a ladder on the back of the truck.

Driver must pull down the main chute on the truck and attach chute extensions at every job.

Driver must wash and clean their trucks with brushes and a hose. Ensure concrete mixer is maintained and cleaned; get all cement off the truck. Ensure the cab is also cleaned daily.

Driver must keep foreign objects (rocks, dirt, concrete, etc.) clean and clear before driving off.

Perform pre-trip safety inspection of truck in accordance with USDOT regulations, including checking fluids such as oil and antifreeze, check lights, and report any maintenance issues to service personnel before getting dispatched. Any significant maintenance issues must be in writing.

Operate drum with proper rotation speed in accordance with the concrete specifications and mixing instructions.

Drive truck in a safe manner to jobs arriving with desired slump.

At the site, the driver must be able to maneuver the truck safely to the point of discharge.

Make adjustments to the slump upon customer request at job site as necessary with water or admixture. Ensure this is documented on the job ticket.

Complete paperwork with times, problems on job, and any water/admixtures added.

Collect the correct amount on COD orders and return money to office.

Ensure truck has full fuel tank at the end of the day.

Using leftover concrete, pour Eco Blocks efficiently; clean up tools and messes; break down Eco Blocks every morning and throughout the day, as time permits.

Stay busy throughout the day; if there is a wait time at the plant, clean your truck, chip your vehicle. If nothing to do, check with the Plant Operations or Dispatch.

Maintain a professional attitude and performance in accordance with established personnel policies. Considerate, respectful communication with one another is essential.

Drivers must be available to work Monday through Friday and overtime as required. On occasion, drivers may be asked to work on a Saturday.
