Position:

Sr. Accountant - Hybrid, St. Louis, MO

Position Summary:

The Sr. Accountant position maintains and controls the general ledger accounts and is essential to the operations of the Finance Department. With matrix-ed reporting to the Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will prepare financial statements, provide assistance in developing and ensuring maintenance of cross-functional and departmental budgets and will assist with the generation and preparation of monthly financial reports. The Sr. Accountant will also serve as the first line of defense for accounting issues and adherence to internal controls.

Job Description:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares journal entries by maintain records and files and prepares reconciliations for month-end close

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for various financial statement areas

  • Assist in preparation of weekly Cash Forecast to provide to Treasurer

  • Prepare weekly and monthly Bank Reconciliations

  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly and year-end closings

  • Assist and support annual SOC 1, SOC 2, Quarterly and Annual Stat filings and Financial Statement Audits

  • Track Capital Expenditures and maintain depreciation schedule

  • Participate in internal control initiatives, including compliance with monthly control procedures and process documentation

  • Work cross-functionally with other corporate departments including, financial operations, actuarial and pricing, and various other selling and administrative areas

  • Provide support on various ad-hoc projects

Experience, Qualifications, and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required

  • 2-3 years’ accounting experience required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including MS Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects at one time

  • Knowledge of financial record-keeping procedures

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems

  • Required to pass a credit check
