As a Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Specialist, you’ll provide tactical regulatory expertise to help bring Innovation and Renovation projects to the market through cross collaboration with Marketing, Legal, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Technical Services. Utilizing your advanced knowledge of national pet food regulations along with interpretive skills will allow you to minimize negative regulatory impact upon the business, as well as partner with State and Federal governmental authorities to promote the business interests of Purina.

  • Serve as regulatory representative to provide technical expertise, risk assessments, and solutions for product labeling, nutrition, and regulatory issues

  • Participate in cross-functional discussions and communicate compliance information for broad-based labeling, nutrition, ingredient specifications, and claims language across Nestlé Purina brands

  • Build and utilize knowledge of FDA/USDA/AAFCO regulations and the principles of animal nutrition to ensure technical accuracy and compliant communication on product labels, labeling, and related materials

  • Help prepare support documentation and regulatory submissions to FDA and State Feed Control Officials

  • Provide tactical regulatory input and assist in the development and execution of brand strategies

  • Maintain regulatory files and electronic databases

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and regulatory positions, to maintain standardization for regulatory processes and guidance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Animal Science, or related sciences field

  • 1+ years in a professional environment

Other

  • Prior experience in the pet food industry, human food industry, or related regulatory work is preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $58,000 to $90,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
