This is an exempt level position

Position Summary:

Health and Safety (H&S) Professional (Pro): Based in the United States and reports to the Marine (H&S) Director . A Facility (H&S) Pro Provides Safety Leadership and support to their assigned ARTCO vessels and facilities.

Position Responsibility:

  • Responsible for coordinating all marine internal and external vessel audit for fleet of 80+ inland towing vessels.

  • Responsible for coordinating the master schedule of audits and assigning schedules to internal and contracted auditors.

  • Audit manager will be responsible for up to 40% of total internal vessel audits completed annually.

  • Responsible for coordinating and completing internal Management Audits for 10 vessel management locations. Locations on Upper Miss, Lower Miss, Illinois, and Ohio Rivers.

  • Audit Manager will be the main point of contact between ARTCO and the company’s Third Part Organization (ABS).

  • Responsible for coordinating with the TPO to schedule all External Vessel Audits and External Management Audits.

  • Responsible for creating and implementing corrective actions plans for nonconformity findings from external vessel and management audits.

  • Audit manager will build and maintain strong working relationships with USCG Inspectors in multiple COTP Zones.

  • Audit Manager will conduct annual revisions of the company’s TSMS.

  • Audit manager will also work directly with Corporate Security, Safety, and Environmental teams to continuously update and revise regulatory guidance related to vessel operations.

  • Responsible for maintaining all required vessel documents and certifications.

  • Will be Responsible for compiling all documents for COI applications.

  • Audit manager will work directly with each vessel manager to provide guidance on any compliance related issues.

  • Audit Manager will work directly with the company Survey Manager on all companywide compliance activities.

  • Audit Manager will need strong understanding of Helm software.

  • Will be responsible for compiling nonconformity data to identify trends.

  • Will be responsible to provide a compliance report to upper managers on monthly bases.

  • Will be responsible for handling all ABS invoicing, all USCG User Fees, and Contracted auditor Invoicing.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have experience with Inland Towing Vessel Regulations – Subchapter-M

  • Must also be familiar with Vessel Response Plans, Vessel Security Plans, Environmental Requirements as they relate to inland towing vessels.

  • Must be a credentialed Marine Auditor

  • Must have TWIC Card

  • 2-5 years of marine compliance experience

  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized.

  • Skilled with following software systems

  • Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)

  • Helm

  • Shown leadership skills demonstrated by resume

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation ability

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems

  • Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team

  • Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls

  • Minimal travel will be required, sometimes reactionary on short notice

  • The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold

  • The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs
