Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Solution Architect in the IT Resiliency & Recovery organization. This area is focused on establishing a cross-IT discipline dedicated to ensuring our products have the appropriate levels of both resiliency and recovery. This includes all IT managed technology which our business depends on ranging from custom business applications to infrastructure across our data centers, clouds, and third-party partners. This is an excellent time to be part of the Resiliency & Recovery team as this is a newly established function with tremendous opportunity for growth. We are actively partnering with business and IT leadership to roadmap the next several years and beyond to transform how we look at resiliency and recovery capabilities.
As a Lead Solution Architect , you will be responsible for identifying and driving the general technical direction and architectural patterns for both resiliency and recovery. This is an exciting and challenging role as it will require both broad technical knowledge across the range of technologies used at Enterprise and an understanding of how our many IT systems are connected together to create business value. To be successful in this role, you will need to advocate for appropriate applications of resiliency and recovery to architecture and be able to influence the technical approach of other teams - this is a highly visible and collaborative role! You will be a subject matter expert for all things resiliency and recovery across the IT organization and will collaborate with domain-aligned solution architects, policy & standards leaders, business continuity experts, and various levels of IT leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and design innovative architectural solutions and patterns for the resiliency and recovery of IT products
Help drive and mature processes which prioritize investments by business criticality and balance protection with risk.
Maintain expertise in emerging architectural methods, technologies, business strategies, Enterprise standards, and security best practices and apply them in the context of resiliency and recovery.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams on standards, guidance, best practices, and processes for resiliency and recovery.
Define and maintain technical roadmaps and strategies that align with IT and business needs
Provide thought leadership, instruction, and mentorship to department.
Ability to troubleshoot solutions for root cause, suggesting solutions and new designs when necessary.
Influence and partner with tech leadership across the organization.

Qualifications
Required:
Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or immediate surrounding area
Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours
8 or more years of relevant experience designing and developing large scale solutions
Expert knowledge of and experience with resiliency engineering
Must be able to demonstrate pragmatic application of resiliency patterns to address backpressure, isolation, and fault tolerance appropriate to solution needs and business criticality
Expertise in resiliency and recovery concepts such as fail-over, immutable backups, redundancy, ephemerality, single-point-of-failure, and disaster recovery exercises (DRX)
Familiarity with business continuity concepts including Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and recovery tiers
Experience with cloud architectures and technologies including AWS and Azure
Protect our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensures security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identifies opportunities for improving security and implements strategies to improve our security posture
Must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively pitch ideas and solutions; produce business relevant presentations, and convey complex information in a manner that is easily understood and actionable to both non-technical and technical leaders
Experience defining architectural considerations and collaborating with Engineers and other Architects on the direction for the development of solutions or enhancements
Proven ability to operate in a highly autonomous fashion, repeatedly exercises exceptional, independent judgment, balances strategic against tactical planning
Experience leading operational and strategic activities
Ability to stay up to date on industry trends, products, applications, technical service, market conditions, and competitive activities
Broad knowledge of various technology areas including but not limited to application development, infrastructure, cloud, storage, networking, and security is strongly recommended
Ability to communicate at all levels, build and foster relationships, including coaching and mentoring other architects, engineers, and business leaders
Professional experience identifying and gathering solution needs; performing risk analysis, defining architecture; acting and driving key stakeholder acceptance
Demonstrate flexibility and agility related to critical thinking and making decisions with complex considerations as it relates to business implications
Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
