The Cigna Group Competitive Intelligence Advisor: Solutions, Digital & Disruptors - Hybrid in St. Louis, Missouri

The Competitive Intelligence Center of Excellence is seeking a highly collaborative team member to support a wide range of business areas serving our Solutions, Digital, and Disruptors area.

This role represents a dynamic opportunity to influence product development, new feature/enhancement development, and strategic decision-making across multiple business areas throughout our Evernorth Health Services and Cigna Healthcare divisions. In a supportive work environment, this role gives you the ability to take ownership of a few key areas of the business, becoming the “go-to expert”, while also having a chance to partner deeply with colleagues so that you can co-create on relevant business topics together.

Key Functions:

  • Develop strong, informed insights—going beyond data and anecdotes, we are looking for someone with experience in framing up intel and presenting it in a concise, executive-style format that answers the question “so what?”

  • Help our internal partners view market trends through a new lens—we are seeking someone with the confidence and experience to articulate how market trends may impact product and strategy decisions. You will have experience forecasting what’s to come in the health industry, and how it might impact future decision-making.

  • Leverage our technological tools to help make our broad stakeholder set more self-service: through our internal competitive intelligence hub, newsletters, sales training portals, and new advances with generative AI, you will be expected to develop your insights with the help of our rich set of subscriptions and resources.

  • Practical skills for managing through ambiguity—there’s no crystal ball here, but through collaboration, honest discussion, asking high-quality questions, and talking through our priorities, you’ll get the help you need to manage through ambiguous times, requests, and expectations.

  • Presentation and storytelling skills—while we will help you refine your approach, we are looking for someone who is experienced not only with researching and writing their findings, but in presenting those findings out to others (telephonically and in person)

Opportunities You’ll Get Access To:

  • A commitment of weekly 1:1s structured to review your professional wins, help with removing any barriers you are facing with your work, and a review of any training or networking opportunities you’d like access to. This is in addition to a weekly team meeting that gives you line-of-sight to other bodies of work, and opportunities to jump onto projects that interest you.

  • Professional development opportunities to practice public speaking and building your storytelling skills. You will receive coaching and feedback in a warm, supportive environment, and have the opportunity to practice presenting to a variety of management roles throughout the organization.

  • Regular skip-level access to Sr. Director of Competitive Intelligence—in individual meetings and in group settings to share insights and get important business context and updates.

  • Opportunities to present to employees across the organization as a subject matter expert and thought leader (Trends to Watch, Disruptors Roadshow, Serving Up Knowledge, and other broad audience presentations)

  • While this role will not have any direct reports to begin, the role may evolve to mentor interns over time. The expectation when joining our team is to help uphold our collaborative, cross-sharing spirit that we’ve established. Sharing knowledge freely with team members of all levels is important to our culture.

  • You’ll complete your analyses on a variety of topics, including medical solutions, digital, care solutions (such as behavioral health), health equity topics, and more.

Ideal candidates will offer:

  • Candidates of lots of different types of work history could be successful in this role, so even if you don’t meet all of the criteria, please still apply if this is a role that sounds right for you.

  • 4-8 years experience in market insights, competitive intelligence, health care product strategy, RFP/proposal management, or other generalist marketing role. Having knowledge of the healthcare/health services industry is a major plus.

  • Savvy web researcher: someone with tenacity, and a proven history of finding creative, nimble ways to look up publicly available information

  • Confident presentation skills (in person and virtual): must be comfortable delivering recommendations to a variety of internal leaders

  • Above all else, the right candidate for this role is someone who is curious about the health industry, enjoys examining new trends, and naturally likes to look at multiple viewpoints before making an assessment.

  • Ability to work from a Cigna office 3 days a week, as directed by leadership

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
