Summary:

The Histologist is responsible for all phases of tissue processing from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques, maintains all files, records, and documentation required by state and federal licensing boards, cleans and maintains equipment and instruments, stocks and maintains supplies and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Essential:

• HS Graduate or Equivalent GED

Nonessential:

• Technical Program Completion or Degree

• Associates Degree

Education specialization:

Nonessential:

• Histotechnology

Education equivalent experience:

Essential:

• Required - High School or Equivalent; Preferred - Technical - Histotechnology; Preferred - Associates - Related Field

Nonessential:

• Required - High School or Equivalent; Preferred - Technical - Histotechnology; Preferred - Associates - Related Field

• Required - High School or Equivalent; Preferred - Technical - Histotechnology; Preferred - Associates - Related Field

Credentials:

Essential:

• ASCP Certified Histotechnician

Nonessential:

• ASCP Certified Technologist in Chemistry

Credential equivalent experience:

Essential:

• Required - Histology; Preferred - ASCP
