Customer Services Specialist/ Multimedia Technician

Duties:

  • Supports and serves as point of contact for County multimedia assigned applications.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems related to County multimedia assigned applications and equipment throughout the County.
  • Assists network personnel in the support of the County multimedia assigned applications.
  • Reviews multimedia recordings for use in courtroom presentations, disclosure, copying and storage.
  • Installs PC software and new systems.
  • Makes changes to PC configurations based on County standards.
  • Installs and repairs PCs, network attached devices and any Information Systems supported devices.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnosis PCs, network attached devices and any Information Systems supported devices.
  • Responds to trouble tickets initiated through Help Desk database.
  • Performs preventative maintenance.
  • Orders replacement parts.
  • Makes recommendations for purchasing parts and hardware.
  • Uses County Help Desk software to track call history.
  • Provides guidance to new customers in use upon installation of PCs, network attached devices and any Information System supported devices.
  • Maintains general cleanliness and order in work areas.
  • Makes recommendations to Customer Services Manager concerning planning, installation and maintenance of equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or computer-related field and a minimum 1 year of full-time experience in a business environment in IP multimedia systems support and installation; OR
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or computer-related field and a minimum 3 years of full-time experience in a business environment in IP multimedia systems support and installation or commensurate industry certification; OR
  • High school diploma or GED certificate and a minimum of five years of full-time experience in customer support environment using computerized software or commensurate industry certification.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • The physical ability to lift 50 lbs. at least three feet off the ground is necessary to perform job duties.
  • The position is based in Saint Joseph but travel to other County locations is required.
  • May be subject to call-in during off duty hours.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of PC hardware, software and various file formats and multi-platform data integration.
  • Knowledgeable in standard office software applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Data entry, keyboarding, typing and telephone skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to department directors/managers, department heads, elected officials, and/or Board of Commissioners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, verbal and written, at all levels within the organization.
  • Diplomatic and effective in dealing with customers.

Desired:

  • Considerable knowledge of county government functions.
  • Basic knowledge of network wiring.
