Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital Director of Quality and Patient Safety in St. Johnsbury, Vermont

Position Overview: The Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety focuses on enhancing patient care, safety, and operational efficiency by developing, coordinating, and implementing effective quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of healthcare quality standards, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Improvement and Patient Safety: Develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement programs and initiatives to enhance patient care and safety across the organization.

  2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, including those set by CMS and other state healthcare regulations, state health departments, and other governing bodies.

  3. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret patient care outcomes and quality metrics data. Prepare and present reports to hospital leadership and stakeholders.

  4. Collaboration: Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based practices to address quality issues.

  5. Education and Training: Provide staff with education and training on quality improvement methodologies, patient safety protocols, and best practices.

  6. Policy Development: Develop, review, and update hospital policies and procedures for quality management and patient care standards.

  7. Patient Safety Initiatives: Collaborate to promote a safety culture within the organization, including incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

  8. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with patients, families, and community stakeholders to gather feedback and improve the quality of care and services.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Science in Nursing, other clinical-related field, public health, or healthcare administration. Masters in Nursing, Healthcare related profession, or Business Administration is strongly preferred

  2. Five (5) years of healthcare experience in acute care/critical access facility and hospital-based quality improvement experience

  3. Current licensure in relevant clinical discipline

  4. Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS), Lean or Six Sigma Certification, or other relevant certification

  5. Required skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Virtual Communication platforms, Excellent communication skills, Ability to write reports, Ability to present to leadership, medical staff, and Board of Directors, Data analysis, Planning & problem-solving and the ability to be self-directed and work independently. Preferred: Power BI, SharePoint, Publisher
