In this role, you will develop and execute a merchandising strategy that will drive profitable sales and market share for the company across all product categories, including fresh and center stores. As our Head of Merchandising, you'll be the visionary leader who ensures our product assortment not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our guests. Requirements Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop, lead, and communicate a comprehensive merchandising strategy that aligns with the company's vision, objectives, and financial goals, with a progressive, guest-focused approach that will deliver sales and profit objectives. Analyze market trends, customer insights, and grocery retailer data to identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation. Financial Performance: Set and achieve financial goals, including sales targets, margin goals, and inventory efficiency. Oversee and manage department budgets, ensuring profitability and efficient use of resources. Drive operational efficiency and cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or guest satisfaction. Merchandising Strategy and Execution: Oversee the execution of merchandising strategy that drives revenue, market share, and category profitability. Partner with the team to ensure a balanced product portfolio that includes national brands, private label, and private brand offerings. Oversee category management to optimize product mix, shelf layout, and promotional tactics that align with guest preferences. Vendor & Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms and exclusive product offerings that align with the company's strategic and financial goals. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and promotional agreements to ensure a competitive and productive product mix. Guest Focus: Ensure that all merchandising offerings meet or exceed customer expectations regarding quality, freshness, and value. Implement initiatives to improve in-store presentation, freshness, and convenience, driving a positive customer experience. Proactively assess program effectiveness of each category by geographic area to ensure the proper mix of products is offered with programs that align with guests' expectations. Provide strategic leadership to ensure that we adjust when needed to align with the market and the guest's needs. Team Leadership & Development: Lead by example to create a culture that engages employees, and builds team spirit and morale through recognition, accountability, coac ing for talent development, and urgency. Partnering with Human Resources to anticipate and recognize staffing needs, and hire, develop, and retain top talent. Develop high-performing teams to create and maintain effective succession plans. Train, coach, and mentor on how to drive sales through consistent execution excellence of operational standards, in-store promotional excitement, product knowledge, and guest service.
