Electrical Builders Facilities and Shop Assistant in St Cloud, Minnesota

Primary Objective of Position:

The primary objective of this position is to assist the shop and facilities team with day-to-day tasks to maintain organization, safety and cleanliness throughout shop/yard and field assets.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Maintenance – Responsible for housekeeping and maintenance functions of the shop and field assets including but not limited to sweeping, garbage removal, basic property repairs (painting, carpentry, shelfing, etc.). detailing and fueling field vehicles. Performs in-house maintenance/repair as required and submits weekly reports for outside maintenance/repair needs to management.

  2. Asset inspection – Performs weekly asset and facility checklist inspections of equipment/assets and reports on findings including any maintenance requirements. Assists in equipment and material cycle counts and asset condition reports.

  3. Property Yard and Grounds – Ensures that the outside yard and grounds are safe, secure, organized, equipment is lined up and stored in a neat and orderly fashion. Ensures all vehicles, equipment and buildings are secured prior to leaving at the end of the day. Responsible for snow removal within fenced-in area and at entry points, weeding, basic trimming and landscaping. property and asset security.

  4. Trailer Loading/Unloading – Assists with trailer loading and unloading activities as required, following check lists and performing/logging inspections in both directions to ensure safe and functional equipment is being sent to the field and returned in same order.

  5. Care of Inventory Equipment, Storage and Cleanliness – Properly handles, cleans and secures company assets and equipment to ensure all are kept in proper/safe working order as assigned.

  6. Courier – Runs errands in company vehicle to pick-up/drop off materials and equipment as assigned.

  7. Safety – Performs work following all safety rules, ensuring safety guards are in place on all machines. Performs job in a safe manor following established work rules. Follows safe protocol with all functions.

  8. Emergent Availability – This position requires intermittent availability during weekends, evenings, and early mornings for emergency projects. This does not restrict the use of their time off from work and will only be required to report to work when emergency jobs are prevalent.

  9. Process Improvement – Supports the effort of ISO 9001 and process improvement by recommending methods, equipment, techniques, and other changes to improve company operations. Participates in internal audits, risk assessment and corrective actions as required.

  10. Apparent of Assigned – Performs any other work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications for Entry:

  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment functions, maintenance and safe operation.

  • Ability to read, write and follow processes.

  • Physical ability to independently lift, carry or maneuver up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with fellow employees.

  • Ability to work in a cooperative and team oriented environment.

  • Ability to use computers and shop reference manuals.

  • Current Driver’s License without restrictions

  • Open to work evenings and weekends as available and required.

Training for Effective Performance:

  • Demonstrated ability to use hands and arms in performing maintenance.

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and review manuals in order to detect and assess maintenance issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to service, repairs, adjust, and test machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work outside for extended periods of time.

  • Demonstrated ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Demonstrated ability to assure both site and employee safety

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the maintenance schedule

  • Demonstrated ability to be involved in process and product improvements

  • General knowledge of company policies and procedures

  • Demonstrative ability to use good communication and organizational skills in order to insure a high CSL (customer service level)

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain site areas and equipment security.
