SUMMARY

Works on the design, development, fabrication, modification, assembly, installation, and/or testing of various mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and electrical apparatus and equipment, software, chemical and physical processes, manufacturing processes, environmental safety, and/or materials under development within an engineering or manufacturing facility. Identifies fundamental processes, designs test methods and protocols, collects and interprets experimental data, and performs systems integration and final testing to ensure reliable and world-class product delivery. Frequently interacts with sales, customers, and suppliers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be flexible and able to move effectively from project to project and balance workloads in an ever-changing environment

Support Plant Quality Process

  • Materials and new products; face stocks, liners, adhesives, coatings, printers, ribbons, and vendor relationships.

  • Works with Platform plant quality departments to develop and monitor Form and label constructions that

  • provide value to our customers.

  • Work with the plants to find the best solutions to quality issues, and concerns, and help to troubleshoot

  • providing an unbiased viewpoint for problem-solving.

  • Material IDs and evaluations; works with lab tech to interpret results.

  • Structures testing the lab. Test Methods/ Simple Design of Experiments, basic test environment,

  • no complex analysis required.

  • Works with Sales on new products.

  • Conducts Tests/Evaluations/Validations for new products.

  • Help mentor plant personnel to understand the process and how it is validated in the lab.

  • Provides input and guides decision-making in material choice by testing and reporting outcomes.

  • Printer and End User Technical Services – testing on Lasers, inkjets, Thermal transfer/Direct Thermal printers.

  • Mentor and provide resources and education to plant and sales on print & end-user services.

Required Skills

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to functional work or role with more than 5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

  • Ability to translate previous work experience into very good problem-solving skills and appropriately apply proven solutions. Consistently deliver prescribed outcomes in a timely and accurate manner with appropriate guidance. Apply existing processes and procedures to solve problems and may receive guidance for problems that are non-routine.

  • Ability to apply very good functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools to complete work assignments. May require knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn specialized software related to the position.

  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to understand general business concepts and apply them when communicating with diverse groups of people when completing work assignments.

  • Previous experience with the interpretation of technical and experimental procedures and methods is required.

  • Previous experience in the operation of a printing press or work in a printing environment is required; forms and labels are preferred.

  • Ability to lead multi-functional groups, motivate, train, evaluate staff, and manage customer reporting on progress, costs, etc.

  • Must have a complete understanding of lab testing processes, analysis, and reports; Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 is a plus.

  • Must be a self-motivated and driven individual who is willing to take the initiative. You must be a leader and believe in a strong commitment to values.

  • Must be willing to make difficult (possibly unpopular) decisions. Approachable with ego in check; flexible; high energy level; and integrity beyond reproach.

  • Must be able to work independently and/or as part of a team.

  • Must be able to decide if the product meets customer specifications and make decisions regarding non-conforming products.

  • Must be able to decide and/or recommend whether the product should be sent to the customer.

  • Continuously make judgments regarding the quality of products.

  • Actively involved in customer acceptance of the product by aligning the process with desired use.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift, pull, and push 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Must be able to bend, twist, and turn occasionally.

  • Two-handed operation is required to operate a personal computer constantly.

  • Required to stand and move about the facility frequently.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment with minimal noise.

  • Environmental temperature is stable and controlled.

  • Floor surfaces are even and made of concrete.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

  • Hearing protection and safety toe shoes or boots are required on the production floor.

Required Experience

The national pay range for this role is $62,100 to $109,200 annually. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
