Wavetronix Technical Project Manager in Springville, Utah

Project Manager 

A good Project Manager is critical to the success of development in the Engineering Department. They will manage the work breakdown for our development teams to complete projects around the creation of products and product improvements that are key to Wavetronix' success. An effective Project Manager must clearly understand the vision, strategies, business priorities and functional requirements of Wavetronix products. They will have a deep knowledge of the products, ensuring that the development team is not held up by questions about priorities, project requirements, or desired functionality. The project Manager is successful when the needs of the key stakeholders are understood, are well communicated to the development team, and are executed in the expected timeframe. 

Preferred experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Accounting, or Business admin.

  • 5-10 years of experience in process-oriented discipline or 5-10 years of direct experience in technical project management.

  • Strong understanding of Agile tools, methodologies, and technical project management practices.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

A successful Project Manager will accomplish the following: 

First 90 Days 

  • Hold ongoing backlog refinement meetings to ensure that the backlog is ready for the development team. 

  • User stories are broken down to an appropriate level. 

  • User stories are clear with well-defined acceptance criteria and outcomes. 

  • User stories are consistent with documented requirements. 

  • User stories are prioritized appropriately. 

  • Actively participate in sprint planning meetings 

  • Regularly report on roadmap progress through sprint reviews and reports 

  • Lead at least one development team 

  • Possess a basic understanding of Wavetronix products 

  • Become a part of the Project Management Guild 

  • Enthusiastically participate in personal development training 

First 6 Months 

  • Understand stakeholder needs 

  • Work with stakeholders to review progress and get input on priority and direction through well executed sprint review and personal interaction. 

  • Regularly report progress and possible impediments to schedule and scope 

  • Communicate possible changes to schedules and scope to stakeholders as required. 

  • Plan for upcoming releases with other Project Managers and the Product Office 

  • Answer developer questions about expected functionality. 

  • Enthusiastically participate in personal development training 

  • Break down project requirements into right sized user stories 

  • Work with development team(s) to complete the requested features or products in the expected timeframe – prioritize the expected work 

First Year 

  • Assist in creating system level user requirements.  

  • Create long and short-term project plans based on feature and company roadmaps. 

  • Coordinate work across teams to accomplish business roadmap requirements. 

  • Be a resource for the development team to answer questions on business outcomes and vision and work closely with System Engineering Managers on technical and architectural direction. 

  • Possess a proficient understanding of Wavetronix products. 

  • Enthusiastically participate in personal development training 

Beyond First Year 

  • Possess an understanding of ITS and traffic markets 

  • Actively participate in the Project Management Guild to support training and building knowledge and confidence of team members 

  • Enthusiastically participate in personal development training
