SPRINGVILLE CITY CORPORATION Fire Engineer in SPRINGVILLE, Utah

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Under the general direction of the Fire Chief, respond to fire | | alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, urban rescue and | | other calls to protect life and property; participate in fire | | prevention activities and training; and maintain the fire station and | | equipment.  Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of | | part time Firefighter/EMT's.  Assist in meeting department mission, | | goals, and objectives. Pay rate based on 2912 annual hourly work | | schedule 48/96. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Essential functions: | | | | ·       Assist in the implementation of department goals and | | objectives | | | | ·       Respond to fire alarms with assigned crew; participate in | | fire suppression activities including but not limited to, pumping | | operations, aerial operations, laying and connecting hose, holding | | nozzles and directing water streams, raising and climbing ladders, | | ventilating burning structures, and entering buildings to evacuate | | occupants. | | | | ·       Respond to all types of emergency medical incidents, such as | | auto accidents, gas system leaks, and animal in distress, and assist | | in rendering emergency medical services; analyze patient needs, | | administer advance emergency medical and take command of patient care | | with full responsibility for the patient(s) until relieved by proper | | medical personnel; may direct the activities of firefighting | | personnel when responding to medical emergencies. | | | | ·         Assist in coordinating the maintenance, cleaning, | | servicing, and repair of all fire equipment, apparatus, fire | | hydrants, support equipment; ensure proper maintenance of station | | facilities; maintain station supplies and inventory tools and | | equipment on fire and EMS apparatus; participate in fire station | | housekeeping and regular floor watch details. | | | | ·       Safely drive and operate all types of fire department | | vehicles/apparatus and rescue equipment including portable fire | | extinguishers, pike poles, hand lines, smoke ejectors, salvage | | covers, forcible entry tools, aerial ladder equipment and emergency | | medical equipment in emergent and non-emergent conditions. | | | | ·       Assist in the training of fire department personnel. | | | | ·       Preserve evidence at fire scenes. | | | | ·       Perform search and rescue of individuals in hazardous | | environments including collapsed buildings, auto accidents, hazardous | | materials spills and confined spaces. | | | | ·       Attend instructions in firefighting and emergency medical | | techniques, perform drills with other engine company staff, become | | familiar with city lay ut, establish response routes and become | | familiar with hydrant system; prepare and maintain a variety of | | firefighting preplan drawings and schematics. | | | | ·       Provide public information on fire prevention, CPR and career | | opportunities. Make presentations to schools, clubs, scouting | | organizations, etc., as requested. | | | | ·       Follow all safety procedures outlined in local, state and | | federal fire codes and regulations, inclu | | ding City and department policy, and rules and regulations; fill out | | and review necessary reports and keep records as required. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ·       All other duties as assigned. | | | |   | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Required: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Successful | | completion of an accredited Fire Training Academy, or equivalent, at | | the Firefighter II level. One year of experience as a | | Firefighter/EMT. Certified as Hazmat "Operational" and possess and | | maintain "EMT Advanced" certification. Possess an appropriate | | driver's license on the date of application. Meet current physical | | condition requirements on the date of appointment and maintain them | | thereafter. Proficient in developing effective fire streams and | | knowledgeable in basic fire ground hydraulics. | | | | Preferred: Three years' experience as a full-time firefighter, Ice | | Rescue, ADO and ADO-P certified, college level course work in related | | field, and completion of department course work in Engineer Candidate | | School.    | | | | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES | | | | Ability to work in an emergency firefighting environment, or in | | medical emergency situations, including but not limited to all | | suppression activities, hazardous materials, vehicle accidents, swift | | water rescues, mountain rescues, ice rescues, or any other hazardous | | situation.
