The Impact Youll Make in this Role The person hired for the position of Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer will assist in the coordination and completion of site Environmental, Health and Safety compliance objectives. The position will also play a key role in developing and completing the annual EHS plan and other continual EHS improvement objectives and activities leading to improved EHS methods and processes to impact safety within the facility. This position requires a self-starter with strong team skills and superior interpersonal abilities.

  • Providing technical expertise and assistance on all aspects of the sites Environmental and Safety Compliance efforts to include Safety and Injury prevention, Incident Investigation, Process Safety Management (PSM), Dust Hazard Management (DHM), Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, Site Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Response Team, Hazardous and Universal Waste.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Site PSM, DHM and MOC programs at the Springfield, MO site as well as other 3M sites (30%).
  • Assisting in representing the site during audits by 3M staff groups such as EHS Environmental Operations and Corporate Safety as well as regulatory inspections.
  • Developing appropriate documentation on plant systems to comply with 3M requirements and lead efforts to improve existing programs.
  • Providing EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, New Product Introduction System, Incoming Material Approval System, and Management of Change.
  • Assisting in meeting departmental and plant Lean Six Sigma targets and leading EHS Projects.
  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes to reduce risk.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering disciplines/ Environmental Health and Safety from an accredited university (completed and verified prior to start)
  • One (1) year of combined experience in environmental or EHS in a private, public, government or military.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Three (3) years of experience working in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role within a manufacturing/production environment. (Private, public, government or military).
  • Experience with PSM/PHM/DHM covered processes.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications such as: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other related credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work closely with Plant Management and Production employees.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organization skills.

Travel: Includes u to 30% domestic travel to other 3M Sites

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $95,825 - $117,120, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
