The Opportunity:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will support general management, strategic planning, and fulfillment of all HR services for a new corrugated container plant located in Pleasant Prairie, WI. This will be a 24/6 - 24/7 manufacturing operation.

The HRBP supports the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a diverse range of local and corporate policies and procedures, in support of established operational goals, WestRock values, and the Code of Conduct. Experience with talent management, staffing, employee engagement, culture and managing processes and relationships are a high priority. Problem solving, coaching, and conflict resolution are important skills to be successful in this role. The HRBP will work closely with the General Manager, and plant Leadership Team to achieve the short and long-term goals for the facility for their respective area of responsibility. The HRBP will support and at times lead employee-related initiatives and training.

This position will be located onsite at the new Pleasant Prairie, WI facility.

  • Participate in all aspects of a multi-functional HR Department including Compensation, Employment, Benefits,

  • Training, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations under the direction of the HR Manager.

  • Demonstrate compliance with all applicable Federal and State Laws including EEO, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, and Collective Bargaining.

  • Conduct periodic training on applicable topics including sexual harassment, diversity, and employment law.

  • Partner with development and improving the knowledge and skills of the organization.

  • This includes analyzing training needs, determining how to deliver the training needs, as well as real-time coaching mentoring, Technical Skills - Talent building the capability.

  • Coordinate employee relations activities. Handles employee relation concerns, settles disputes, resolves, and conflicts, and conducts internal investigative procedures.

  • Support and participate in the administrative aspects of the human resources function including maintaining records and confidential employee files, providing statistical and regulatory reporting.

  • Partner with the team and department to support the tracking of attendance and delivery of attendance feedback. (e.g. feedback and disciplinary action if needed)

  • Consult and advise the HR Manager on topics that may have a major impact on employee engagement.

  • Measurements of Success: employee Engagement, Attrition, Open Positions, Plant level EBITDA, Safety Metrics & Initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.

  • 5+ years of human resources management experience

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment - Required.

  • Human Resources Certification preferred: PHR, SCHRM-CP

  • Effective written, oral, and professional negotiating skills.

  • Ability to investigate and assess employee conflicts objectively and solve such issues using a variety of methods and tools, including coaching and conflict resolution.

  • Professional working knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as analytical and project management experience.

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing online systems/platforms for applicant and training tracking (e.g. Peoplesoft, Avature, etc.)
