Data Harmonization Engineer Needed!
We are building out a team of varying levels (junior, mid-Journeyman and senior) for a new initiative supporting a modernization project for the CDC.
The work will be on site at CDC Headquarters in Atlanta, GA with the option for remote work.
What You Will Do:
Lead development and implementation of data standards, data annotations, standard terminologies, and data models.
Collect data models for disparate datasets within a domain.
Collaborate with client stakeholders to develop conceptual models that define the atomic concepts for each domain.
Construct semantic mappings from the data elements in the source datasets to atomic or compound concepts in the conceptual model.
Develop sample transformation code to translate among representations.
Configure and manage vocabulary services to allow data modernization users to improve understanding of the relationships among data representations.
Prepare and lead presentations; participate in working groups, meetings and conferences.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s or higher degree and demonstrable experience implementing data harmonization strategies
Skilled in supporting data commons, data governance, metadata, and data standards projects
Proficient in data modeling, cleaning, normalization, and classification methodologies
Experience in data coding using common programming languages (Python, Java, SQL); extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes; statistical sampling and analysis methods; and data science tools (R, Python, Perl, etc.)
Proficient in the use of visualization tools such as AWS Quicksight, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.
Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, including exceptional attention to detail
Ability to effectively and confidently communicate complex concepts – in speaking and writing –with team members and all levels of technical and nontechnical client stakeholders
Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects concurrently, work collaboratively with diverse teams, meet deadlines, and deliver quality
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
What Would Be Nice to Have:
Experience working in public health research environment
Knowledge of semantic web technologies such as SPARQL, RDF, OWL

The annual salary range for this position is $89,100.00-$133,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
