Strike Senior Piping Designer in Spring, Texas

Job Summary:

The Senior Piping Designer will be responsible for producing piping deliverables for the EPC Terminals piping department for EPC terminal/facility projects within the midstream oil & gas markets. Duties will include working with the project piping lead on projects to produce all facets of piping deliverables.    

Primary Job Function:

  • Act as a project piping lead as needed.

  • Work under the direction/supervision of the Piping Division Lead.

  • Create piping 3D models using CADWorx Plant / AutoCAD.

  • Model 3D Equipment using CADWorx Equipment and vendor drawings.

  • Perform site visits for P&ID walkdowns and as-built sketches of piping, structures, etc.

  • Work with laser scan data using Autodesk Recap & Navisworks to 3D model and extract images for tie-in/demo photos.

  • Create and maintain piping lists using Microsoft Excel (Iso Tracking, Tie-in’s, Specialty Items, Manual Valves, Line Designations, Document Index)

  • Create and modify orthographic drawings such as Piping Plans, Plot Plans, Equipment Location Plans & Sections.

  • Extract piping isometrics from CADWorx models and post-process using spreadsheets.

  • Write piping scope of work documents.

  • Assist with piping manhour estimates.

  • Provide status updates for project schedules.

  • Participate in 3D Model reviews with clients and other stakeholders.

  • Responsible for layout of equipment, piping, and pipe supports for FEED and detailed design projects.

  • Check piping drawings and packages created by other piping designers and drafters.

    Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of terminal, downstream, or midstream facility experience as a piping designer, 13+ years preferred, or 15+ years combined experience as a drafter & designer.

  • Field experience walking down P&ID’s and field sketching piping and structures.

  • 3D Design experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks, and laser scan software such as Recap.

  • Designing piping systems to meet ASME B31.3, API 520/610/686, etc.

  • Applying industry standards such as PIP (Process Industry Practices).

  • Developing all facets of piping deliverables from start to finish.

  • Acting as a piping discipline lead on projects

    Education/Training:

  • Associates degree in CAD Design or Engineering Technology is preferred. Certificate in CAD and/or equivalent work experience will also be considered.

  • Follows Strike CAD standards and procedures to complete drafting tasks.
