Summary:

The Profit Center Trainee position is essentially CED's management training program, but with the intention of ending up in a high-caliber role at the PC.

Those roles can be broken down into three categories:

Operations:

  • Project Quotations

  • Project Management

  • Purchasing

Sales:

  • Outside Sales

  • Inside Sales

  • Counter Sales

Management:

  • Sales Manager

  • Operations Manager

  • Department Lead

  • PC Manager

Your training track will depend on your natural skill set and goals as a Trainee, agreed upon with PC Manager, but they will all have the same basic formula:

  • Warehouse Training (6-8 weeks)

  • Counter Sales (4-6 Months)

  • Inside Sales (4-6 Months)

At this point the training track will split off. Sales and Management will go onto Outside Sales (if necessary), Operations will go onto Project Management.

Either way, in order to progress, you must show exceptional competency at each phase.

Minimum Qualifications:

Authorization to work in the United States.

Willingness to undergo a background check.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment and warehouse conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; handle products, pick orders, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk on the phone or speak with customers in person. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Warehouse environment and outdoor conditions including sometimes extreme hot/cold temperatures. Deliveries in all weather conditions including during extreme hot/cold, rain and other seasonal conditions.

Essential Job Functions:

Office and Sales Roles

  • Provides outstanding customer service to all current and potential customers, mainly via telephone and internet

  • Writes orders with accuracy and in accordance to all sales policies and procedures

  • Maintain current customer base

  • Meet established monthly sales goals

  • Communicates and cooperates with outside sales force and/or other departments

  • Communicate process improvement ideas

  • Timely follow-up on all customer orders, quotes, and open purchase orders

  • Maintains up-to-date awareness with new and existing products and services

Warehouse/Logistics Roles

  • Deliver company materials to customers in a professional manner

  • Effectively and professionally meet and communicate with the public

  • Drive, automatic transmission vehicle (safely & legally, driving violations may jeopardize your position as a driver)

  • Shipping and receiving duties; including loading and unloading trucks

  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders to determine items to picked, packed, distributed or shipped/transferred

  • Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.

  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence

  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department

  • Use computer and RF guns to manage sales orders, inventory and enter information into business management system

  • Participate in cycle counting of physical inventory

  • Open boxes and other containers

  • Operate wire cutter to cut wire according to customer orders

  • Operate forklift in warehouse setting

  • Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times

  • Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic

  • Assist customers at will call and walk-ins as required

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $22 to $24.6 hourly.
