Sierra Nevada Corporation Production Technician II in Sparks, Nevada
As a Production Technician specializing in board level soldering, you may also be using your skills and expertise to perform a variety of our production assembly operation tasks on electronic and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies such as modules, panels, drawers, frames, cables and harnesses while working from diagrams and written instructions. You will be responsible for building new assemblies and occasionally disassembling, modifying, reworking and reassembling experimental or prototype assemblies. You will make continuity checks and quality inspections on your own in-process and completed work.

The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities Include:
Perform mechanical/electrical assembly from engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and other production documentation
Ability to interpret and work from drawings, manuals, handbooks, and technical specifications
Work on printed circuit boards (PCB), circuit card assemblies (CCA), and follow detailed instructions accurately and consistently
Completion and finalization of CCAs after machine manufacture to include separation of PCBs from larger panels, labeling, masking, and conformal coating
Have good hand eye coordination and be able to use a variety of standard hand tools, soldering irons, and the ability to work under a microscope
Inspect assembly work for self and other team members per appropriate standards
Work with engineers to identify issues with new products and improve them
Knowledge of proper ESD controls
Must be detail and quality oriented
Qualifications You Must Have:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 2 or more years of relevant electronic experience. A higher level degree may substitute for experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications and manufacturing principles
Experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment
Prior experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies
Basic skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors
Circuit card assembly and rework experience with soldering of both surface mount and through-hole parts
Computer literate with experience in Windows and Office products, and ability to learn new specialized in-house applications as required
Ability to take instruction and work side-by-side with advanced technicians to learn new skills
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
IPC J-STD-001 certification
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education and certifications
Electronic component identification knowledge
Experience with personal protection equipment (PPE), respirator for conformal coat spraying in particular, and/or spray booth experience
OSHA 10-Hour Training certification
Able to work in an organized, clean work environment to 5S standards
Military electronic assembly background
Background in the aerospace or defense industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
