As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. You'll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber. Responsibilities:

  • Managing 5-10 engineers, engineering managers, and lab managers.

  • Managing the engineering group who support multiple new designs and programs

  • Working with external customers and vendors to complete prototype system design, production, and depot repair and maintenance. Some support of fielded systems and field support representatives.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 8 or more years of relevant technical experience

  • Understanding of engineering principles and practices

  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation

  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

  • Experience interacting with customers at a technical, collaborative, and business development level.

  • Typically 2-4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience including: Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence

  • Experience in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, strategic thinking, marketing, and literacy in the program management disciplines

  • Proficient leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews

  • An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

  • Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success

  • Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

  • Ability to motivate/work with others

  • Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project

  • Experience with 3DX for product lifecycle management

  • Experience with OrCAD or Allegro X for ECAD development and/or Experience with SolidWorks for MCAD development

  • Experience working in a quick reaction capabilities (QRC) environment

  • Technical expertise with environmental testing to include – MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-704.
