We are looking for a passionate technology leader to lead a 50+ FTE organization responsible for the delivery of mission-critical web experiences in Schwab.com related to Digital Payments, Money Movement and Retirement Minimum Distribution (RMD). In addition, the leader will also oversee strategic development of several cross-enterprise capabilities including digital signature and enrollment workflows which are critical for the success of Schwab’s Retail Service Transformation initiatives.
An ideal candidate must possess a solid understanding of the latest trends in the payments and banking industry with a proven experience running client facing internet applications. The ideal candidate shall also possess proven expertise in modernizing critical client facing financial applications and leading cloud transformation initiatives at scale. In addition, they enjoy being part of an impactful and growing engineering team, working in a fast-paced environment, be process and data driven, have strong communication skills, and have extensive experience leading a high performing organization.
This role requires a leader who has a creative mind set for problem solving with a strong client focused mindset, and ability to forge relationships with many internal and external partners.
This leader will ideally be based in Southlake, TX.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field is required.
10+ years of software development management/leadership experience with at least 3 years focused on financial services or banking industry.
10+ years of direct people leadership experience (team members report directly to you, you are responsible for performance appraisals, hiring etc.)
5+ years’ experience running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies. Demonstrated ability to define, communicate strategy and vision and influence across the Enterprise is essential.
Proven track record leading teams developing web applications targeting Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or one of the other major Cloud providers
Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire and influence teams and partners in delivering technology enabled business solutions that exceed business expectations.
Ability to execute at scale in a dynamic environment, build strong relationships and promote collaboration, identify talent, recruit, hire, coach, mentor and build high performing technical teams; experience setting direction, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability.
Technical professional experience building scalable enterprise applications with high availability and reliability. Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, execute against strategic goals.
Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
Strong influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in distributed architecture patterns, practices
Experience running mission critical, 24x7 systems with resiliency across regions / zones
Financial Industry experience
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
