S&P Global Specialist, Product Portfolio Management - Automotive in Southfield, Michigan

The Team:

The Mobility Strategy & Portfolio team within Automotive Insights handles a large range of external and internal topics from M&A and partnerships to the business line’s product portfolio investments. It is a small, international team of professionals that works closely with business line management and most of the business functions. The cross-functional team reports into an SVP and handles the most challenging, but equally exciting projects and tasks in a casual team environment.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Responsibility for the operational handling of Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), which includes managing the approval process of product development projects and tracking/ reporting of all large development programs

  • Responsibility for the individual product development approval stages, which includes reviews with product teams, manage the approval process with business line management, and get decisions from the approval committee

  • Responsibility to run the PMO (Program Management Office): track progress of approved development projects in the Build and Go-to-Market stages, flag deviations and initiate mitigation, to ensure that every investment dollar is well spent.

  • Support the annual product portfolio planning process as an important part of the strategic planning process, and manage updates throughout the year

  • This role requires close collaboration with the Automotive management team, all product and development leads, and central functions such as Finance, Sales and Marketing. It is therefore a great chance to get visibility and learn from different functions.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

Ideally strong practical experience in either product management or program management with exposure to product development processes and information technologies. Prior internships will also be considered for experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or related field, with thorough understanding of business management

  • 3+ years in a product or development program management role (handling multiple products and/ or projects) ideal.

  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English - It is important to effectively communicate and interact with all stakeholders along the product approval, development and launch process:

  • Ability to manage a diverse range of programs

  • Ability to work with a wide range of individuals representing a broad range of functions, in different geographies

  • Self-motivated, decisive, self-learning

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of (software or data product) development and product management processes, basic understanding of technical infrastructures in data management

  • Good communication skills (written, verbal & presentation)

Additional preferred soft skills:

  • Ability to adapt to change and competing demands

  • Ability to find innovative ways to solve problems

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,740.00 to $65,258.00. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
