Corewell Health RN Mission Control Supervisor in Southfield, Michigan

Scope of Work

The Supervisor of the Mission Control/Transfer Center coordinates and organizes personnel and other resources to meet the patient flow and throughput functions of the organization, and ensures patient transfers are effective and efficient leading to the best experience for the patient and their family members into Corewell Health from referring sites of care. They also Collaborates to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments. The Mission Control/Transfer Center Supervisor represents the organizational leadership across all venues on 24-hour basis and collaborates to make decisions an act on behalf of the leadership team.

  • Supervises day-to-day accountability for the delivery of quality services by supporting teams to manage patient flow effectively and efficiently, capacity management, escalation of discharge delays and arrangement of transportation.

  • Supervises activities of professional, clinical, technical, and support staff. Partners with Mission Control leaders in developing the training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinates to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develop, and evaluate subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.

  • Anticipates customer needs and manages the provision of services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and employees. Ensures that employees respond to requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.

  • Supervises Mission Control services to ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.

  • Partners with Mission Control leaders in maintains departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.

  • Supervises the practice of ensuring workflows are standardized across the system related to coordinating transportation, placing of patients, and activating surge activities in collaboration with Mission Control manager.

  • Reviews overall day to day staffing coverage and evaluates for balanced staffing levels, ensuring appropriate staffing; if necessary, in a critical shortage will cover portions of the night shift to ensure coverage.

  • Provides education to in-person and remote staff on process changes, policy requirements. Assists with Transfer Center initiated quarterly competencies and shares results with staff.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • Preferred Master's Degree

  • 3 years of relevant experience skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through related experience Required

  • 1 year of relevant experience of leadership experience Preferred

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required
