Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, uses specialized knowledge gained through education, training and experience to assist the department’s internal and external client base with identifying and solving complex and often non routine trade discrepancies, out of balances and errors. This role requires an excellent understanding of the industry trade cycle, deep knowledge of multiple internal and external systems and the ability to recognize and communicate solutions to the end client using accepted industry methods and terms. This deep industry and product knowledge will also be used to provide assistance in process improvement, audit support, service on ad hoc teams to address company or department issues, training of new associates and education of Financial Advisors where appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes daily trade discrepancies and determines the correct course of action for the firm based upon the situation.

  • Reconciles several different clearing accounts within deadlines.

  • Resolves trading inquiries presented from other departments and sales force to include complete successful resolutions.

  • Provides risk mediation solutions

  • Processes assignments and exercises of options daily and also during expiration weekends.

  • Provides technical assistance and education to financial advisors and other Operations departments on expiration results.

  • Enters executed trades utilizing relevant industry-specific software applications. Becomes highly proficient on these systems and can provide training and technical assistance. Utilizes system(s) to set up option records on the master file.

  • Updates existing option positions and processes adjustments. Explain adjustments to internal and external auditors.

  • Processes Automated Customer Account Transfer System (ACATS) adjustments as necessary.

  • Processes trade corrections on demand.

  • Trains as a back-up for management during option expiration weekend processing. Leads Option Expiration processing on weekends and communicates with financial advisors.

  • Assists as a team member in various automation efforts of option products for process improvement.

  • Provides troubleshooting between department and internal or external vendors on technical or operational issues. Works with vendors or industry clearing entities to arrive at a solution.

  • Provides training support for department associates.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Advanced investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry to include the trade cycle of execution, clearance and settlement.

  • Financial markets and products.

  • Internal and external clearing systems and entities used by P&S.

  • Trade processing, trade comparisons, security setup, options transactions and products.

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and relevant industry-specific applications.

  • Performing basic mathematical calculations.

Ability to:

  • Gather all relevant information, identify key issues, and qualitatively and/or quantitatively process data.

  • Define high standards for quality and evaluate products, services, and own performance against those standards.

  • Speak communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and verbally.

  • Interact effectively with associates at all levels.

  • Manage multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish goals.

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.

  • Understand and research trade bookings and clearance.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or other related field and a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of Customer Service, Financial Services Industry, or Accounting experience.
