The Southampton Town Parks Department is currently accepting applications for Summer Recreation to work in our various recreation programs which run July & August. Must be at least 18 years old, a high school graduate, and capable of supervising staff & large groups of individuals in camp programs, and enjoy working with children. Organize and direct a variety of recreational activities for K-6 grade, encourage participation, instruct the participants, enforce safety rules & regulations, issue and care for equipment, materials & supplies. Keep records and make periodic reports.May be required to possess a specific training certificate and/or teaching certificate. Recreation Leader MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either:a) Possession of a teaching certificate (elementary or high school) recognized by the New York State Department of education; OR,b) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with an Associate's Degree in Recreation and/or Physical Education; OR,c) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and two (2) years of experience conducting group recreational activities; OR,d) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a), b) and c) Candidates may be required to complete a basic Red Cross first-aid course or its equivalent.ALTERNATE POSITION:Assistant Recreation Leader MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:a) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.Candidates may be required to complete a basic Red Cross first-aid course or its equivalent.Hourly Rate: neg. based on experience* For more information, call the Parks Department at 631-728-8585 * Please send your application & resume to: Town of Southampton - Human Resources116 Hampton RoadSouthampton, NY 11968 Fax: 631-287-5721 HumanResources@southamptontownny.gov EOE
