Position DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Traffic Department to ensure timely receipt and shipment of customers' products and inventoryESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise the day to day operations of the Customer Service Department, including scale operationsWork with Operations Superintendent to develop weekly load plans for barge and rail operations, oversee communication of plan to customers and contractors.Work closely with operations supervision to ensure efficient completion of all shipping and production ordersEnsure that customer reports and inventory management and accounting management systems are maintainedEnsure that barge, truck, rail, production and shipping orders from customers are efficiently disseminated to the terminal's operations teams in a timely mannerTrack and report shipping and production performance against customer requirements / orders. Ensure that all quality control measures are adhered to at all timesAssist customers and surveyors with resolving questions / problems regarding inventory accountingMeet with potential customers to discuss terminal inventory processing operationWork closely with commercial team and terminal management on customer issues or discrepanciesManage Dual Verification of all customer's order creations have been done property by personnel to insure proper billingEnsure proper close out and entry into Inventory system of all plant operation orders generated in the terminalAllocate resources and manage variances between measurements to ensure proper inventory accountingOversee daily inventory levels and production performance against customer requirements / ordersWorking knowledge of MN DOT rules and regulationsWork with Terminal Management to meet financial targets established in budgets. Assist with development of annual operating budgetsProvide excellent customer service and respond to all customer inquiries / concernsEnsure proper staffing for daily operationsProvide leadership, training and development to all Customer Service Department employeesEnsure that all reports, records and documentation are kept orderly and current. Perform all work in strict accordance to Company policies and proceduresAttend daily, weekly and monthly safety meetingsReport all accidents, incidents and near misses to managementMaintain a positive and professional atmosphere for all employees and visitorsOther duties as directed or required.Position RequirementsEducation:High school diploma or GEDPreferred education:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related disciplineContinuing education in supply chain managementExperience:High-volume experience in a customer service, traffic, transportation, or fleet management role with major responsibility at a bulk terminalCertifications, licenses, registrations:Must possess and maintain valid driver's license and maintain driver insurabilityCompetencies, skills, abilities:Demonstrated leadership competenciesEngage as a team player with other terminal leaders to support the growth, development and operation of the terminalBe able to take direction from leaders and act accordingly within the instructions given, Core Principles and all KM policies and procuresExcellent written and verbal communication skills including email and presentation skillsAdvanced MS Office skills including ExcelSoftware inclusive of inventory management and accounting modules, i.e., SAP, Galahad, and Financial software Galahad, and MerlinStrong business acumenAbility to direct the work of others and be self-directed as wellStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent math skillsPhysical demands:Balance work day between office-based duties and exposure to yard, rail and barging operationsAbility to wear five (5) points of PPE including hard hat, reflective protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses and steel-toed boots20% of work is performed outdoors leading and directing staff and conducting terminal traffic management. Outdoor conditions consist of hazards including exposure to situations with a risk for injury such as proximity to moving equipment, electricity and working in high places and over water.Office Work: 80% of work is performed indoors.
