Location/Division Specific Information

This position is located within the Transplant Diagnostics Division within the Specialty Diagnostics Group.

  • Location West Hills, CA

How will you make an impact?

You will be responsible for leading the Marketing Communications team and executing the yearly marketing plan including promotional campaigns, events, workshops, digital marketing and advocacy programs. Reporting to the Director of Market Development, you will both lead and mentor a direct team of Marketing Specialist as well as act as the liaison to additional Marketing Communications resources within Thermo Fisher. You will also leverage automated project management tools to help maintain a reasonable and clear workflow for team project execution, drive our global event strategy and customer workshops, provide internal and external partners with a clear direction, and hold colleagues accountable for planning, deliverables, and timelines.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to execute comprehensive and coordinated lead generation campaigns and customer communication strategies using divisional resources and automated marketing tools

  • Own the consolidated yearly marketing plan including market development campaigns, events, and advocacy programs supported by calendarized deliverables that map up to a single plan for the Division

  • Lead the Marketing Communication team to ensure cohesive strategy, planning, and outstanding execution while directing the day-to-day operations.

  • Work with the Senior Leadership to define global event strategy and Product Managers to develop execution plans.

  • Oversee execution of industry events, webinars, and social media, in collaboration with business partners.

  • Plan and supervise all yearly company customer educational programs in collaboration with the Director of Technical Service & Support.

  • Manage the outbound marketing budget, allocating funds for projects to align with priorities and business objectives

  • Communicate results and key performance indicators to leadership and adjust approach where needed to achieve goals

  • Proactively engage with sales channels to collect feedback which will drive continuous improvement of the customer’s and patient’s journey.

  • Lead and drive internal initiatives to communicate the value propositions of our products and solutions.

  • Prepare a monthly report to measure the effectiveness of the Marketing Communications team.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications field required.


  • 5+ years of experience in a variety of marketing communications roles. Additional education may substitute for some experience.

  • At least 4 years demonstrated people/team management experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment supporting multiple groups simultaneously.

  • Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience in an HLA laboratory (Transplant Diagnostics) or with IVD solutions

  • Proven experience in managing industry events and tradeshows is required

  • Strong project management experience in managing projects from inception to production

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written and ability to effectively engage with all levels of Thermo Fisher Scientific employees, as well as outside contacts.

  • Ability to convert strategic marketing plans into tactical execution

  • Excellent writing, positioning, messaging, and content development skills.

  • Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions every day.

  • Takes initiative and has strong problem-solving skills

  • Seeks out opportunities and internal colleagues to help develop personal skills and those of the Marketing Communications team

  • Ability to prioritize own work and coordinate work of staff based on needs of the business.

  • Can successfully manage several tasks simultaneously and meet various concurrent timelines and accomplish Department goals.

  • Excellent organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.

  • Familiar with automated Sales and Marketing tools (e.g., Salesforce.com, Eloqua, Showpad, etc.)

  • Ability to travel as needed.
