How will you make an impact?

Our Organic and Oligo Chemistry team designs and synthesizes dyes, quenchers and synthesizes highly functionalized oligo constructs for evaluation in various R&D projects for potential new product development in Genetic Sciences Division. In this R&D role you will be involved in oligo synthesis, purification, quality control and manual dye labeling of oligo constructs for R&D projects as well as for new product development and launch. In this role you will also be part of multidisciplinary teams that are involved in development of higher plex, real-time PCR detection systems.

What will you do?

• Work in the laboratory on synthesis of oligonucleotides on DNA synthesizer

  • Develop and optimize methods for manual dye labeling of oligonucleotides

• Carry out characterization, purification and analysis of oligonucleotides with HPLC, LC-MS and UV-VIS spectrometer

  • Participate in team meetings, problem-solving and brainstorming sessions for multidisciplinary R&D projects

  • Write protocols and reports, present data and interact with scientists from other groups

How will you get here?


B.S with 10+ years; M.S. with 6+ years; Ph.D. with 3+ years in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Biology or related discipline with research experience in R&D and/or product development in the area of nucleic acids chemistry, oligonucleotide chemistry and their applications.


  • Hands-on experience with operation of DNA synthesizer such as, ABI 3900 or Biolytic 48

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in synthesis, purification and quality control of oligos

  • Hands-on experience with operation of HPLC, LC-MS and UV-VIS spectrometer

  • Experience with phosphoramidite chemistry is essential

  • Experience with fluorescent dye chemistry is a plus

  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with running Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a plus

• Writing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical plans/reports

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to troubleshoot synthesis and purification problems

• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
