Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Manager in South Portland, Maine

Description Robert Half has partnered with a large manufacturing company in search for a Director of Human Resources. They are seeking a leader with extensive experience in the manufacturing sector, who is versed in understanding its dynamics and unique HR requirements. This newly created position is responsible for:

Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

Nurture a positive working environment across multiple plant locations

Maintain knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws, and issues in the manufacturing sector.

Resolve labor relations issues among employees and in partnership with Union representatives.

Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.

Implement and manage training and development programs for staff at all levels.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field required, Masters Degree preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions with at least 5 years in the manufacturing sector.

Proven experience in labor relations and union negotiation processes.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent knowledge of various human resource functions such as employee relations, performance management, HR best practices, and relevant legal regulations.

In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.

Experience in strategic planning and implementation.

Has proficiency in using HR systems and databases.

Willingness to work on-site at plant locations throughout Maine and travel to corporate locations as needed.

SPHR or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification will be an added advantage.
