EMSL Analytical Inc. Laboratory Assistant in South Pasadena, California
LA Testing is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in South Pasadena, CA. This is support position for the laboratory manager and the analysts. It will oversee preparing, shipping, receiving, distributing, and logging in of samples. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Prepare environmental microbiology samples prior to analysis as neededReceive paperwork for incoming samples to ensure completenessInspect samples to ensure samples integrity is retained and that the packaging is not compromisedReceive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS systemPerform quality control checks on supplies and manage multiple spreadsheets for microbiology departmentAssist with cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment such as incubators, refrigerators, autoclave, laboratory benches and hoodsMust be willing to work with biological safety cabinets, fume hoods and analytical balances, water filtration manifolds, autoclaves, incubators, water baths, pipettes and hot platesGood lab practiceAccept shipping and handling items received by the laboratory from clientsOther laboratory and administrative duties such as filing, faxing, copying may be assigned by lab staff and manager as neededRequirements:High School degree/equivalent Associates Degree in Life Science/ two years of college course work completedOne to two years of previous academic or commercial lab experience is a plusAbility to work independently and with a teamGood communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.Proficient in MS Office especially Excel and typingExcellent customer service skills customer service experience is a plusAbility to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignmentsAvailable Shift: Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. LA Testing offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
