Aerotek Slitter Operator in South Chesterfield, Virginia

Job Title: Slitter Operator

Job Description

Candidate will be working in a clean room area for the manufacturing of resistant film for circuit board manufacturing. The film must be kept free from dust and debris, hence the cleanroom. Candidate will go through an "air shower" and wear a loose-fitting, Tyvek suit in the manufacturing area. Candidate will be operating winding equipment that puts film onto 15-30 lb rolls, ensuring proper alignment as the product is put on the machine, roll adjustment, speed, and meeting production demands. Candidate will often package their own product; however, there are two extra associates to assist in packaging. Candidate will be cross-trained in material handler capabilities; any experience in shipping and receiving is helpful, as is the ability to measure all products using measuring equipment. Candidates must differentiate between customer orders, set up the equipment, read and follow procedures, and utilize measuring tools (both meters and feet) to accurately coat and process the final product. Responsibilities include: loading and unloading jumbo rolls of film using a forklift, setting up and operating the film coating line, monitoring product quality and performing quality testing on each roll, keeping accurate records, responding to process alarms, maintaining equipment, and keeping the area clean. Candidate will use a computer to print labels and won't be exposed to any chemicals aside from alcohol for cleaning. Label finished product or teach assistants the labeling and packaging operation. Candidate will produce rolls that are between 25-45 lbs, as many as 2-5 rolls at a time, wrap them in black plastic, put labels on the core, and send out to the packaging department.
