Your Opportunity

As a civil engineer at Stantec, you will be a technical lead responsible for delivering successful land development projects using your expertise in design, permitting and construction. In this role, you will be able to take client’s concepts and make them into a reality by generating comprehensive and quality construction documents.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the most innovative and exciting clientele in Vermont including BETA Technologies, Local Municipalities, Solar Companies, Vermont Gas, Green Mountain Power, General Services Administration (GSA), Velco and the Burlington International Airport.

While our land development team in South Burlington is focused working on projects locally, you will have the opportunity to work with teams across New England and beyond.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the civil engineer responsible for preparing civil engineering design for projects across various sectors including energy, public and private development. Design responsibilities include grading, drainage, stormwater treatment, water, wastewater, site layout, street improvements and erosion protection / sediment control.

  • Prepare three-dimensional models of civil systems using AutoCad Civil 3D.

  • Assist in preparing permit applications and associated exhibits required for each project. This includes applications for stormwater, Act 250 land-use, wastewater, potable water supply and local zoning.

  • Work collaboratively with project team members including architects, landscape architects and MEP staff.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Design versatility across a variety of disciplines including land development (residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and recreational), utility, transportation, and aviation.

  • Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.

  • Stormwater treatment and conveyance design experience.

  • Wastewater disposal and conveyance design experience (including leach field and mound system design).

  • Potable water distribution design experience.

  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. Collaboration with architects, landscape architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers and structural engineers.

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Proficient in AutoCad Civil3D

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering and EIT Required

Vermont Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) desired

5-10 years of civil engineering design experience desired
