POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Community Investment's Neighborhoods Division oversees operations related to federal grants management, neighborhood development, code enforcement, animal welfare, planning/development for program implementation, and housing counseling activities to support the stabilization and revitalization of neighborhoods and community. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary, and schedule is subject to vary based on departmental need.
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Chief Neighborhoods Officer to improve team performance, manage personnel, and develop/implement programming and resources to benefit South Bend residents. The Assistant Director will be expected to foster cooperation between teams within the Division, Department, and across other City departments, improve internal communication, and ensure internal resources are allocated optimally.
This position will also be expected to assist the Chief Neighborhoods Officer in the advancement of priorities, management of procurement, human resources, legal matters, and other daily operations of the department.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supporting the Chief Neighborhoods Officer with supervision of Neighborhoods Division staff, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the activities of the Neighborhoods Division, which includes Neighborhood Services and Enforcement, Neighborhood Health and Housing, Federal Grant Management, and the South Bend Animal Resource Center.
Directs and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities to ensure project and program objectives are met.
