SCHEDULE

Varied schedule, 7:00am-3:30pm; 8:00pm-8:00am. Schedule may change based on operational needs.

PAY RATE

$21.02 per hour

DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY:Performs various maintenance duties for the Water Works Department using heavy, complex motor equipmentincluding hydro-excavator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:N/A.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates wheel excavator, track excavator, backhoe, front end loader, and skid loader.
  • Operates all department vehicles.
  • Performs manual labor as necessary.
  • Operates air jack hammer and a wide variety of hand tools.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on departmental equipment.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Six months experience operating heavy equipment machinery

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:

  • Must be capable to perform strenuous physical labor.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds

CERTIFICATES, LICENCE, REGISTRATION:Valid Commercial Driver's License required.

EQUIPMENT:Saws, tampers, pumps, compressors, and other gas and hydraulic powered equipment and heavyequipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, theemployee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humidconditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee isoccasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud.
