MAJOR DUTIES:

As a proactive member of the NCC Mechanical Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will be working in a team environment with Project Management, Engineers, and Fabrication to develop concepts and designs as well as leveraging existing standards where possible. They will Utilize SolidWorks as the primary design software, PDM for data management. It is very important to realize that in a Project driven company, we run into unexpected technical challenges, changes in scope / schedule, and can require extreme flexibility, teamwork, and creativity to help solve challenges.

This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Openly and consistently communicate with Engineering, sales, and project management about current projects, due dates, progress, and upcoming tasks

  • Participate in all Mechanical Engineering team meeting structures to properly support and improve the department

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering Manager and Principal Mechanical Engineer on all designs to foster consistent designs and follow good manufacturing practices

  • Perform mathematical calculations for sizing components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, chain drives, structural materials, etc.

  • Research and define specific purchased components to be used in the equipment

  • Create and review drawings to be used in the project. These can include but are not limited to detail, assembly, weldment, installation, and modification drawings

  • Work within the ERP system to release Engineering Information to Manufacturing

  • Aid the Fabrication and Assembly departments in troubleshooting

  • Travel to jobsites when required to gather information, see existing equipment or process, troubleshoot, or assist with equipment commissioning

  • Provide support for customers via phone, email, or web as required to troubleshoot designs and equipment

  • Work with the Innovation Center Team to further develop new product lines as demands arise

Education and Experience

  • A post secondary diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering or similar role.

Job requirements:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D Modeling

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products

  • Fundamental Mechanical aptitude

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • 2D CAD experience is a plus
