Job Summary:

To provide housekeeping/cleaning service that will support the highest possible level of cleanliness; provide exceptional service to internal and external customers; maintain an orderly and attractive environment throughout the facility in accordance to RWJ standards

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Speak and understand English

  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods

  • Requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Exposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing or safety equipment.

Preferred:

  • One to two years as housekeeping or service worker

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates knowledge & efficient use of cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment and tools

  • Performs related services, such as bed moves, changing mattresses, changing curtains, stocking supplies, event setups etc.

  • Maintains high standards; work steadily at efficient pace; achieves high QA score

  • Interacts hospitably, cheerfully, and supportively with staff, patients, visitors and work colleagues

  • Maintains equipment, tools and storage areas, orderly and in good operating condition

  • Respond rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies, special-needs, spills, etc.

  • Accepts suggestions and directions from supervisors and hospital staff

  • Honors department's attendance, break, behavior, dress and safety codes

  • Exercise good judgment while working around patients and visitors

  • Remains Professional at all times

  • Takes initiative in rendering service or responding to needs

  • Assist other associates as necessary. Respond to direction as provided

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 2:30pm 11:00pm required to work every weekend & every other holiday (Saturday & Sunday)

  • Days to work vary

  • Part Time
