The State Correctional Institution at Laurel Highlands, Department of Corrections, is currently in search of an enthusiastic and innovative individual with exceptional leadership abilities to become a part of our team as a Cosmetology Instructor for the Corrections program. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The individual in this position is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of a cosmetology training program, ensuring compliance with state regulations. This includes the development of a comprehensive curriculum, as well as the creation of question and answer sheets and other necessary course materials to adequately prepare inmate students for the state board examinations required for the Cosmetologist License.

In addition to curriculum development, the role also involves providing instruction to inmates in the various practices, methods, and techniques of cosmetology through a combination of classroom teaching, demonstrations, and on-the-job training. Furthermore, the employee is tasked with offering cosmetology services to the inmate population, thereby contributing to their skill development and overall well-being.

Another key aspect of this position is the evaluation of student progress, which is carried out through written examinations, observation, and conferences to ensure that students are meeting the required standards, laws, and regulations. Ultimately, the employee operates under the general guidance of an administrative or technical supervisor to ensure the effectiveness and success of the cosmetology training program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirement: You must possess a valid Cosmetology Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.
