LEISS TOOL & DIE CO CNC Programmer / Machine Operator in Somerset, Pennsylvania

The CNC Programmer/ Operator is responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications, adjusting, the machine cutting paths, creating new programs for new product designs, and performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

  • Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design/ Drawing specifications.
  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality standards.
  • Consider/ research tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise.
  • Train new employees how to properly operate CNC machines and programs.
  • This position also leads and or participates in fostering manufacturing techniques pertaining to reducing part cost and increasing part quality
  • Generates the C.N.C. Programs required for production requirements
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to ensure optimal production processes, tool selection, and cutting strategies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, including tool lists, Operations sheets, and revision histories.
  • Interpret blueprints or sketches, CNC program printouts and process sheets to determine and optimal set-up machining as required.
  • Understand CNC control console to set proper feed rates, speed and depth of cut for cutting various geometries.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as electronic gauging equipment depth gauges, and calipers, micrometers in setting-up required tolerances.
  • Basic Math Skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry).
