Swagelok Set-Up Operator Processing - Level 1 in Solon, Ohio

Position Summary:

At this level the Associate has a solid understanding of all aspects of Chemical Processing and prioritizes Safety in the decision-making process. They can solve most non-routine process problems. The Associate at this level has a greater awareness of the overall business and can recognize the need for, and make, process improvements to standard work that reduce cost and/or improve quality and delivery. They will interact with Associates in other functional areas and can oversee and assist with department development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Support production objectives by:

• Performing set-up duties related to chemical processing.

• Train operators on higher skill level functions.

• Troubleshoot production problems relating to chemical processing, equipment, and fixturing.

• Demonstrate support of company philosophies, systems, and policies through actions and words.

• Capable to perform all the duties of a JLG level 4 Process Operator.

• Setup equipment to standard work.

• Facilitate effective Shift Start Up meetings, departmental meetings, and assist with staffing assignments.

• Train and educate operators. Assist with the assessment, implementation, and documentation of Associate and departmental development plans and competency progress plans.

• Able and willing to coach operators to more efficiently operate equipment.

• Demonstrates proficient chemical processing, communication, and troubleshooting.

• Be the subject matter expert regarding the technical portion of chemical processing.

• Make recommendations for updates to standard work based off feedback from Operators & utilization of drawings.

• Accurately complete records and forms.

• Performance of Setup Level 1 Operator is tied directly to the performance metrics of the department.

• Has a solid understanding of the products, processes and equipment used by the team.

• Self-motivated and able to learn at a fast pace.

• Fully supports team training needs, and will assist as necessary where possible.

• Identifies and corrects many processing problems relative to chemical bath makeup.

• Uses the change management system.

• Capable and willing to utilize necessary PPE for the job, including half-face and/or full-face respirators.

• Makes necessary chemical additions.

• Perform, train and assist in preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling.

• Complete routine maintenance of department work centers (+ minor repairs) as needed.

• Accurately complete records in our SAP maintenance management system.

• Ownership of departmental organization and housekeeping.

• Routine ordering of supplies for assigned department (boxes, packaging, single use items).

• Utilizing our Quality Notification process to contain suspect parts, quickly acquire approved remedial actions, and move orders through to completed status. Collaborate with our Quality and Engineering teams as needed.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• Training & experience with chemical processing

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift Kegs and Boxes on a regular basis between 25 - 35 pounds and occasionally between 35 - 50 pounds. Considerable standing, stooping and bending is required.

• May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity test
