The Program Manager will be responsible for the high-level strategy development, and project execution of improvements throughout the enterprise (domestic and international). This position will lead resources inside and outside of the Advanced Manufacturing department to complete initiatives that provide maximum value to the organization and ensure that key deliverables of the program are executed to strategic goals.

The Program Manager is responsible for our Advanced Manufacturing Methods Department, which consists of Engineers and Technicians that are responsible for identifying, testing, and validating new manufacturing processing technologies. The Program Manager collaborates with stakeholders to establish clear business and project goals, manages budgets and resources, and reports results and health of the program on a monthly and quarterly basis. The Program Manager works their staff, assigned teams and subject matter experts to deliver solutions and develop their skills within the program.

With an understanding and knowledge of the company and its processes, the Program Manager interprets policies, best practices, and resolves business issues with a limited degree of supervision, determining how these should be applied to different situations and problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • ​​Develop, prioritize, and implement a portfolio of manufacturing technology assessments, initiatives, and projects that continually improve Swagelok’s performance within the scope of the assigned program. Report progress and escalate roadblocks to corporate stakeholders and sponsors as needed / requested.

  • ​Monitor the on-going health of the program as implemented by all domestic and international sites and work with Operations Management to correct deficiencies.

  • ​Maximize return on investment of company manufacturing assets and project portfolio

  • ​Reduce of cost of goods sold (COGS) through manufacturing tooling, process, and equipment selection

  • ​Oversee companywide change initiatives sponsored by committees, ensuring that project teams are using proper and sufficient PMM and focused on collaboration to deliver results

  • ​Direct the development of technology business cases by project managers to ensure that the next projects will deliver the greatest business return for the resource and capital investment

  • ​Coach team while working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure project health. Actively manage project risks and associated mitigation plans.

  • ​Review and evaluate project status provided by project managers and resolve escalated roadblocks with stakeholders and at times to the appropriate executive committee.

  • ​Use the appropriate project tracking for resources and schedule; effectively & efficiently manage project change requests.

  • ​Budget, track and maintain financial information and status.

  • ​Conduct formal phase/stage gate reviews and obtain sponsor sign-off

​​Manufacturing Methods

  • ​Responsible for companywide manufacturing and assembly equipment technology choices to maximize the performance of operations.

  • ​Understand manufacturing equipment solutions in machining, processing, and assembly

  • ​Assess emerging technologies for long-term strategic fit within operations

  • ​Procure, run-off, develop and validate new equipment in support of our long-term manufacturing strategies.

  • ​Support Operations and PMO (project management office) as needed with technology projects and continuous improvement efforts.

  • ​Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Automation teams to enable breakthroughs in capacity and productivity.

  • Coordinate benchmarking and trade show visits to identify latest technologies and processes.

  • ​Approximate number of direct reports: 7 to 10

Other Responsibilities

  • ​​Subject matter expert on the business environment, the latest functional area information, environmental issues, knowledge and skills, and the latest industry information

  • ​Follows change management best practices and ensures change control to existing company policies and procedures​

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations or related field or equivalent manufacturing and leadership experience.

Experience: 3 years leading medium to large scale cross departmental projects.

Preferred:

Education: MBA or other advanced degree. Certification in project or portfolio management

Experience: 3 years supervisory experience in engineering or operations
