Job Overview Purpose: Provide administrative and technical leadership to manage and direct a multi-disciplinary Engineering team, organizing and guiding all aspects of the team's involvement in developing advanced Radio Frequency (RF) products for the AMI/Smart Grid industry. A Day In The Life Oversee development of Hardware (Electrical and Mechanical) and Firmware designs, implementation and architectures across product lines. Serve as group and technical lead, synthesizing design inputs from various stakeholders to define overall system behaviors. Ensure consistent implementation of design processes and metric tracking across locations. Contribute to documentation, monitoring, and continuously improvement of product development processes.Ensure scheduling, participation and documentation of development process reviews. Conduct proper peer reviews, ensuring solid objective evidence of key design parameter analysis and design verification tests. Institute formal methods and procedures, including necessary training. Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements from governing agencies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Industry Canada (IC). Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in developing technology roadmaps for product lines. Facilitate project-related communications across departments. Resolve conflicts, remove roadblocks, and address questions and concerns promptly. Allocate and monitor team resources according to project staffing plans. Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to promote a successful organizational attitude, confidence in leadership, and effective teamwork. Support the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to reinforce key company messages. Management of administrative tasks including setting performance and development goals, check-in and final performance reviews What will help you thrive in this role? Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Required: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and testing of real time embedded products. Minimum 5 years of experience leading embedded product development teams. Competent working with Microsoft Office and other related Windows platform software. Familiarity with FCC (Federal Communication Commission) part 90, part 15, Industry Canada standards and regulations for licensed and ISM (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) band products. Demonstrated ability to lead a team in the design and development of high volume electronics. Preferred: Masters level degree. Experience designing and developing firmware. Familiarity with communications, protocol selection, and network configuration. Physical Demands: Frequent sitting and standing. Normal Office and Laboratory activities.
