Position Summary:
The Environmental & Safety Coordinator (ESC) provides environmental and safety related support to their site management teams, participates in continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with Swagelok’s programs, policies, and practices in conjunction with Federal, State, and Local environmental and safety regulations. In this role, the ESC may be responsible for multiple facilities and/or operational areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains a visible presence on the shop floor, responds with a sense of urgency, engage with site operations, and collaborate on associate engagements initiatives.
Partners with site management teams to support daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives from an environmental and safety perspective and assists in projects aligned with business objectives.
Ensure compliance with the local Calendar of Events and maintain records per the Records Retention Policy. (Including but not limited to industrial hygiene monitoring, waste stream identification and disposal; preparing and maintaining data required for federal, state and local reporting such as Annual Hazardous Waste, State Emergency Response Commission (SERC), Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)).
Demonstrates a clear understanding of local processes, regulatory requirements, hazards and opportunities for improvement.
Oversees and conducts training and maintains training records for local environmental and safety programs.
Conducts hazard assessments and identifies appropriate personal protective equipment.
Facilitate and document workplace incident investigations and root cause analyses in accordance with our OHS programs.
Analyze and present environmental and safety performance metrics to management teams periodically.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of environmental and safety programs and update the associated training/communication materials as needed.
Provides backup support for other ESCs as required; promotes safety culture.
Actively participates in local safety or response teams and may act as the facilitator.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
Education: Associate degree or certificate program in an Environmental & Safety related discipline
.
Experience: Two years’ work experience in the Environmental and Safety field or manufacturing environment
Skills/Knowledge: Partners up and down in the organization – with the shop floor and site management team. Manages multiple projects and activities simultaneously. Applies reason and logic in problem solving. Demands compliance where applicable. Demonstrates competent computer skills.
Preferred:
Education: BS degree in environmental sciences, safety management, engineering, chemistry, or other applicable degree
Experience: Supervisory or technical leadership in a manufacturing environment.
Skills/Knowledge: Presentation and facilitation skills a plus
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Working conditions associated with normal office environment.
Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).
Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.
Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.
Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
