The Electrical and Automation (E&A) Supervisor coordinates Engineering functions and people covering all aspects of electrical and automation engineering in the factory. Technical expertise to include electrical distribution, instrumentation and automation, as well as knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution System), Digital solutions, food processing and technology and project management. Sets overall strategic and tactical direction for the E&A and maintenance department in subject area of expertise, with focus on people and product safety, reliability, sustainability, compliance and business objectives. Actively participate on the planning and support/delivery of capital investment projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support building E&A and electro-mechanical skill capability (20%):

Ensures that personnel managing, operating and maintaining E&A equipment and infrastructure are competent to do so safely and efficiently. Ensures that competency assessment and competency building plans are in place, routinely reviewed and executed in the factory.

Deliver Process Improvements (10%):

Have a deep insight of the production processes (Process Mastership), and continuously strive for the improvement of quality, safety or efficiency while protecting the technological know how and competitive advantage.

Operate and Maintain (10%):

Participates in the implementation and execution of maintenance strategy, tools and methodologies at site level. Ensures safe and reliable operation of electrical systems, instrumentation, process and supervisory control, and manufacturing execution systems (MES). Implement digital technologies to drive reliability and process improvements.

Manage Risk and Compliance (20%):

Ensures that all E&A installations comply with market and corporate safety, health, environment, product safety and product quality standards. Ensures that the key E&A documentation is up to date and in place (e.g. electrical drawings, automation documentation and backups, maintenance plans, etc.). Ensure that the Management of Change is in place to appropriately manage modifications involving E&A systems.

Drive Sustainability (10%):

Actively participate on the factory sustainability objectives, define priorities, develop and operationalize the strategy to generate energy and water savings. Track and report results coming from any improvement projects, even from the ones that are not specifically related to sustainability.

Manage factory asset portfolio (10%):

Ensures a strategy is in place to anticipates asset end-of-life, obsolescence and replacement requirements, without compromising asset performance and cost competitiveness. Ensures timely stakeholder awareness for capital planning purposes.

Excel in Industrialization (20%):

Participates in all Capital Investments projects in the factory that involves the E&A area, ensuring that the technical solution follows corporate and market standards and is delivered with the expected quality, being on time and in budget.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, strongly preferred OR multiple years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience with Automation and / or MES engineer with Electrical experience (as Project Engineer, Project Manager or Factory MES-E&A Engineer)

  • Experience in managing/direct supervision of technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties

  • Experience on delivering technical trainings

  • Experience on Project Management, including participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team and participation in the start-up of technical equipment(s) and/or production line(s)

SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of automation systems and equipment (HMI - Human-Machine Interface, PLC - Programmable Logic Controller, Industrial networks, etc.).

  • Preference for Rockwell and Wonderware systems.

  • Preference for work on a manufacturing facility in the Food and Beverages industry, or other Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry

  • Good knowledge of electrical distribution systems (low, medium and high voltage installations)

  • General knowledge of local electrical codes and standards

  • Good knowledge of Instrumentation and Calibration process

  • Knowledge on MES deployment (Manufacturing Execution System).

  • Knowledge on Digital technologies implementation (e.g. Vision Systems, Data Analytics, Predictive Maintenance, etc.)

  • Knowledge of food processing operations and technology.

  • Knowledge of food safety and hygienic engineering

  • Knowledge on using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Great collaboration mindset

  • Proactive thinking

  • Self Management following defined KPIs/Objectives, and proactively tracking them
