ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Manager II has direct responsibility for the Three Rivers Quarry in Smithland KY (outside of

Paducah, KY).

Responsibilities of the position include safety, environment, operations, performance, quality, human

resources, and the plant’s image and community relations. The Plant Manager II is an operations

professional who understands the value of planning and processes and takes a disciplined approach to

execution. The Plant Manager II works closely and effectively with safety, environment, land, sales,

customer service, human resources, and materials performance and finance personnel.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Provides direct oversight in the processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates at the site.

  • Closely manages inventory needs through frequent coordination with the Sales and Quality Control.

  • Promotes a culture of performance. Effectively utilizes KPIs, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.

  • Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers. Utilizes best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, stock-pile reclamation to ensure product remains within target specifications.

  • Uses available reports effectively to measure quality, identify variances and establish corrective action.

  • Develops operational and capital plans for the plants to continuously improve productivity and maintain costs.

  • Prepares budgets and forecasts. Prepares rolling 12 month production forecasts monthly and works closely with sales and customer service personnel.

  • Maintains the site in accordance with standard guidelines for plant image. Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings.

  • Establishes the environment as a priority at the site. Ensures regulations are met or exceeded.

  • Supervises the workforce, promoting culture of inclusiveness, consistency, cooperation and teamwork. Responsible for effective recruitment, merit/recognition, disciplinary actions and terminations within the region. Fosters effective employee relations. Establishes a safe and productive work environment.

  • Works proactively with the local community to ensure that Holcim is a valued member of the community. Activities include organization of open houses and participation with local schools and nonprofit organizations.

  • Interacts with customers to ensure their expectations for quality and quantity of material are met.

  • Execute and monitor all respective internal controls, ensuring efficient and effective activities that support organizational objectives, while adhering to applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelors degree or years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred:

Field of Study Preferred: Mining, Geology, Engineering, or Business

Required Work Experience: 7 years relevant experience

Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Travel Requirements: Some local travel within the region is expected; travel outside the region is 5-10%

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong supervisory and people skills

  • Problem solving and analytical skills to include ability to understand and work with P&L and other financial / production reports.

  • Operational knowledge of aggregate surface mining and related raw materials and plant production; preference for chemical limestone mining practices

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
