Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Vice President Medical Communications in Sleepy Hollow, New York

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Medical Affairs organization as the VP, Medial Communications reporting to the SVP, Head of Medical Affairs. In this global role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the direction and execution of Publications, Scientific Communications & Digital Engagement activities and Medical Information services globally.

In this senior role you will interact with Senior Executives and provide day to day people leadership to a growing team of MDs, PharmDs and PhDs. As a key member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT), you will play a crucial role in growing Medical Affairs’ capabilities as a powerful and effective communicator of Regeneron’s science by continuously redefining and optimizing how Medical Affairs understands, prioritizes and engages with our external stakeholders globally, further establishing Regeneron Medical Affairs as a trusted scientific partner within and outside of Regeneron and as a credible go-to resource for medical and scientific information.

A typical day in this position might look like:

  • Lead and develop Scientific Communications & Digital Engagement, Medical Information and Publications teams to ensure consistent cross-functional partnerships across the Global Medical Franchises.

  • Direct development and execution of Integrated Medical Communication plans (IMCPs) through close collaboration with cross-functional teams (including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial), to ensure alignment and integration of medical communication initiatives.as integral plans of the Medical Impact Plans enabling scientific engagement and effective targeted education and data driven interventions to achieve measurable improvements in patient outcomes.

  • Define key leading and lagging indicators of successful implementation of IMCPs.

  • Develop and implement disruptive strategies to leverage available data while ensuring scientific rigor, credibility, and consistent quality in our communications and ensuring compliance with both Regeneron and pharmaceutical industry regulatory & compliance guidance and adherence to good publication practices across all levels of leadership.

  • Ensure successful expansion of Medical Information Services globally and incorporate digital innovation and automation to increase efficiency and customer centricity.

  • Lead and manage the Publications team, driving the development, review, and timely publication of high-quality publications such as scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, and digital enhancements.

  • Develop and implement strategies for Scientific Communications & Digital Enhancement, including the utilization of digital platforms, social media, and other innovative channels to enhance scientific exchange and engagement.

  • Establish omnichannel engagement as key part of the new medical affairs operating model, including standing up of the Mediverse, the Regeneron Medical Affairs portal.

  • Work in partnership with Sr. Leaders across Regeneron, such as the Clinical Development Unit SVPs, Global Programs Heads, Legal/ Compliance, Corporate Affairs and with Alliance Partners.

  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional development and promoting a collaborative and innovative work environmen

This role might be for you if:

  • Ensures optimal professional relations with external stakeholders i.e., physicians and all other HCP, experts who serve as external resource and advisers to Regeneron.

  • Adequately resource the Medical Communications team as the portfolio grows and matures.

  • Keeps major stakeholders (Head of Medical Affairs, Heads of Global Development, Head of Commercial) and others in senior management updated on important medical communications and medical affairs developments and outcomes.

  • Works very closely with Global Medical Franchise leads in all areas as appropriate.

  • Serves as principal spokesperson for the Regeneron Medical Affairs function on highly significant matters pertaining to Medical Affairs.

  • Makes connections among previously unrelated scientific ideas.

  • Deals with scientific concepts and complexity comfortably

  • Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.

  • Advanced (Graduate) University degree in scientific discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) required.

  • At least 20+ years’ experience working in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry; preferably within Medical Affairs and with US and International experience.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in Medical Affairs, ideally with success in positions of increasing responsibility involving influence and interaction with cross-functional teams, departments, and key stakeholders.

  • Experience in medical, legal, regulatory promotional/non-promotional review requirements and evaluating risks related to non-promotional activities.

  • Experience in developing strategies based on benchmarking and stakeholder insights.

The salary ranges provided are shown in accordance with U.S. law and apply to U.S. based positions, where the hired candidate will be located in the U.S. If you are outside the U.S, please speak with your recruiter about salaries and benefits in your location.

Salary Range (annually)

$300,000.00 - $500,000.00
