Role reports to: Research Manager, Oral Care Translational Science

Location: Skillman, NJ Kenvue's corporate headquarters is currently located in Skillman NJ , but is scheduled to move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025.

Travel %: 10%

What you will do

This lab-based role is part of a team of subject matter experts who are shaping state of the art capabilities to support efficacy messages to health care providers and consumers. The Associate Scientist will design and execute research experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports - shaping scientific insights that build compelling consumer and professional communications about the efficacy of our products. The candidate will execute established in-vitro methods, contribute to design of novel laboratory methods, test prototypes, and partner on cross functional teams to advance and progress the science that supports our most iconic brands. They will work alongside internal and external partners to drive innovative new product ideas to market.

Responsibilities:
Designs and executes laboratory experiments in support of Upstream Innovation development, mechanism of action understanding, claims support, and/or method development of novel in-vitro models
Analyzes experimental results, keeps accurate and complete records, and makes science-based recommendations for future research
Oversees and operates multiple pieces of critical equipment and instrumentation. Manages routine performance checks, serves as key contact for trouble shooting, training, and vendor relations
Represents the team on sitewide Safety Committee and performs routine lab safety checks
Builds internal relationships in support of scientific sharing of information and seeks opportunities to partner across the Kenvue R&D community
Partners with cross functional experts to shape communications/demos that resonate with our consumers and healthcare professionals. Partners on building data libraries that create opportunities for Intellectual Property, executes experiments and co-authors publications to share our scientific discoveries
Stays up-to-date with the latest scientific advancements and technologies to continuously improve processes and methodologies.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientific field with 0-2 years of related experience in scientific research.
Experience with following laboratory SOPS/protocols, using aseptic techniques, and understanding Biosafety Level 2 procedures.
Technical competency in laboratory experiment execution and analysis in areas such as: microbiology, tissue culture, ELISA, microscopy, PCR, or image capture and analysis techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven presentation skills.
This role is located in Skillman, NJ and may require travel up to 10%

Desired Qualifications
Experience with statistical analysis of experimental results.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Experience in method development and creating novel techniques/models
Experience with translation of scientific data into non-technical communications
